carmageddon

here in LA we have been seeing this signs all over town for awhile now...

marking the closure of 10 mile stretch on the 405 freeway, separating the Valley from the rest of LA.
This may not seem like the biggest deal, but when it is the busiest freeway in the whole country, it has brought on quite in uproar in the city.
this weekend has been dubbed carmageddon.
can you believe these shirts are real?? and they sell mugs, what!?

and i just about died when I heard that. I love that this is considered the end of the world for us Angelenos.
some of the ways LA is preparing for carmageddon..

The Mayor has urged everyone to stay inside and not leave our homes.
I heard Metro is offering free rides over the weekend.
JetBlue is selling $4 tickets from Long Beach to Burbank!! This special weekend promo is sold out.
The flight is suppose to take 45 mins with most of the time just being taxied at the airport, which then led a bicyclist gang to challenge the airlines that they can bike that trek faster than the flight will last. They are suppose to leave Burbank the same time as the flight.
Im interested to see who wins!

I will be avoiding all freeways this weekend
which means no beach time for me during carmageddon.
thank goodness for my pool!!

they are also doing helicopter transportation for like $150. my guess is that alternate routes down will be empty. it is funny how bad everyone is freaking out.
