oh you fancy huh!?

This past week my DC roommate Jessica came to California for her first trip to Los Angeles.
I was thrilled to be reunited with my youtube addict, closet freak/ gangsta and fellow jerk dancing friend.
As we were planning out the festivities for the week, Jess mentioned she had an invite to attend
The Magic Castle.
I think I gasped in shock.
Then she told me I could go with her.
I think I almost fell off my chair.
The Magic Castle is a Hollywood icon. Nestled against the hills of Hollywood, its a legit castle that was built in 1909 where magicians preform legit magic. The only way to attend is to be a member of the castle (which requires hefty fees or you know...being a magician. nbd.) or getting an exclusive invite to attend.
Which doesnt happen easily.
Hence my pure joy and excitement when Jessica said we could go.
I was also super excited to invite one of my most favorite friends Heather to join us on this magical night. She was equally excited to attend.
The Magic Castle doesnt mess around.
You gotta dress up real fancy in order to attend.
and drop some big bucks.
You have to say "open sesame" to the bookcase pictured behind us for it to turn into the door.
I was hoping being decked out in pearls counted as being fancy.
This place tries to keep up their exclusivity so much that photos arent allowed inside. But of course that didnt stop me from snapping a few!
even the bathrooms were fancy.
Our night included:
A real fancy (and expensive) dinner.
attending the many magic shows and performances the castle has to offer.
I think my favorite was witnessing the magician's assistant getting cut in half right in front of my eyes. And the many card tricks and disappearing acts we witnessed were seriously mind boggling.
Like I said, this place doesnt mess around. And the magic was legit.
Thanks for the invite Jess!
It was a fun and magical night.
So happy that one of my biggest desires of attending the castle finally came true.

my photo taking twin.

I like to take pictures and I take a lot, but I think I have met my match in M'Kynzi.
And when we are together, we like to take even more. We love snapping away as many as we can!
We felt like we were back in London taking so many photos together.
As previously mentioned we had such a great time taking in the LA sites and just catching up with life.
I absolutely love friendships in which it doesnt matter how long its been, or how often you keep in touch, but when reunited again its as if no time has passed.
As soon as I saw Kynz it was like our study abroad, London travels and bunk bed days had never stopped.
And it was the best.
Kynz is an absolutely amazing friend. She is ok with my photo bombs, loves hearing about my dreams, a little snobby and a Ute. But I love her. And im just so glad she has finally started sharing her secrets with me.
Other than the Pantry, our adventures included:

Dodger stadium.
Kynz had never been to an MLB game! And what better time to go then with the Dodgers biggest fan.

Downtown LA and Olvera Street.
We were lucky enough to do during the Fiesta de Flores.
I could go to this tourist street all the time. Love the great photog shots, the food and all the things to buy.
If only I hadnt been too full to have some stuffed churros.

Santa Monica Beach.
This Utah girl had never been to the beach! She loved soaking up the sun and riding bikes along the sand.

Hollywood.
Cant come to LA and not see the craziness of H&H.
we saw BIG BEN! it was like we were in London all over again.

The LA Temple.
Great way to end our Sabbath day.
"why would you ever need a two second timer?"
Well said Kynz.
We are self timing pros.

And of course a much need reunion with Lillie! We were one short of a Terrible Quad Reunion.
But I think my favorite moment was Kynz and Lillie sitting on my bed, reminiscing on our London days while looking through pictures and my journal. And its always great to have amazing girlfriends to talk about all of our boy problems and frustrations in dating.
It was such a much needed weekend.
I LOVED having you here M'Kynzi!! I wish we could hang out all the time. Glad you finally made the much anticipated trip here, and please come back soon!!

Valley Ventures: Roscoe's.

There are so many perks to living in Los Angeles.
The amazing weather alone makes me wonder how there aren't more than just a mere 10 million people living in this city.  Enjoying 70 degree weather in February--you think that life cant get much better.
There are also lots of exciting and fun things to do in the city.
Things that I haven't done in a really long time, or I haven't ever done, despite living here for most of my life.
I have single-handedly convinced my friends to hit some of LA hot spots with me in an effort to explore the city--mostly including restaurants and day trips to museums.
Although Im just a Valley Girl. Im trying to Venture out and explore this city and really live this LA life.
And even though this week wasn't a planned city adventure, it definitely fits the criteria.
First stop: none other than Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles in Hollywood.
The combination of chicken and waffles is unreal. Its unbelievably gooood.
The reason for the Roscoe run--Kurt is in town visiting!
And so we HAD to go. Kurt is from the south and loves waffles. And I love this chicken nugget combo. And for the first time experienced grits.
Kurt is truly an amazing friend. And Im glad he made the effort to come see me during his trip.
We had so much fun catching up and explaining to Christina the crazy tales of our friendship.
Although its not the most classy LA spot. Its a must. Everyone has gots to experience Rosoces.
Ill Ill take some pseudo dirty south chicken and waffles anyday.
