Draper Temple

Last week Christina and I had the opportunity to go to the Draper Temple open house. I was afraid that since Saturday was the last day it would be super crowded, but i guess we were the only slackers in Utah that waited till the end cause there was like no one there. I have been to a few Temple open houses in my day--San Diego, which I only remember putting the white booties on, Redlands and Fresno with the YW/YM of the GH ward, which I really only remember driving for freaking ever and then getting to go the water park in San Dimas, and also the Newport Temple with the fam, this being the only temple I can really remember (that one room with the murals is absolutely breath taking) Hence, I was super excited to go to the Temple in Draper--now that im older and can appreciate it more. We were able to walk through pretty quickly since there wasnt that many other people there and it is so pretty! I loved the two rooms with the murals on it that reflect the beauty of Utah, there were so incredible. Another reason why I wanted to go to the Temple on the 14th was because my friend M'kynzi was playing the harp in the chapel, after you go through the temple. So it was great to be able to see her and very cool to watch her play the harp. I love the temple and cant wait to go there for reals someday!

For the second year in a row I have put together an intramural soccer team, composed of really great soccer players mostly from our ward--hence we are the LANAIhilators. Last year our team was great, and thus I had to do round dos of the team this year. We also made team shirts last year and a bunch of people from the ward bought them, and so this year again I organized our team shirts and we sold a ton. Our team is basically the same as last year plus a few new Lanaians. And seriously we are so good! We went undefeated in regular season and totally blew out all the other teams. Basically everyone on our team are all stars. Last week we had our first game of the playoffs and it was the most intense game ever! We had probably like 20 people from the ward come to support--all sporting their Lanaihilator shirts. For the majority of the game we were down 2-1 and when we scored to tie our crowed cheered so loud which was pretty awesome. We then went into 5 min over time of golden goal (whoever scores first, wins), after no goal we went into a shoot out. We were down one shot with one shot left to go--our best player of course made his shot and so we were all tied again. We then continued shooting until we had a winner. The other team missed their first shot and we made ours, so we won! The shoot out was so intense I was literally either covering my eyes or rolling on the floor the entire time. Our next game is on saturday and we are supposedly playing one of the best teams, but hopefully we will Lanaihilate them!!

my life would suck without you....

I am obsessed with Kelly Clarkson's new song. Immediately once it came out my roommates and I LOVED it and had would frequently rock out and dance to it. Now that K. Clark's album is out I am also obsessed and cant stop listening to it (shout out to Taylor for the constant plea to download it). I was listening to this song while walking to campus the other day and it made me think that my life would really suck with out a lot of people. And so i began to think of all the people that make my life great, and I easily came up with loads of great people.

My life would suck without my family.

I have the best family ever! I thank Heavenly Father every single day for being blessed with such an incredible family. We have so much fun together--Sunday's filled with Mexican Train games, throwing empty bottles on the floor during dinner, watching Dodger games with Dad (and usually knowing more stats/ info then he does) My sisters are my best friends and I have loved spending so much time with them now that I am older (and not get tricked into doing things for them like when i was little). My parents are great and i have so much fun with them! Whether it be making fun of my mom (love you mom) or talking to my dad in our own made up language.

And my life would definitely suck without my nieces and nephews, I love them so much--they mean everything to me.

My life would suck without Taylor.

Taylor and I have been BFF for three years and I definitely cant live without him. Hands down, greatest person. Taylor has been there for me during all high and low points in my life, he is such an awesome friend. He knows everything that goes on in my life and knows all of my secrets! When something is going on in my life I immediately go to Taylor first. I cant hide anything from him. Dinner nights, bagel time, jamba runs (R.I.P.), gym buddies, long chats, dancing!, photo shoots, D.H. nights. Recently he tries to act like he replaces me as his BFF, but deep down he knows im irreplaceable!

My life would suck without my roommates.

(past and present)

From Day 1 of my collegiate career i have been blessed with amazing roommates, and thus best friends. The dorms couldnt have been any better with Whitney, Cortney and Heather. So many late nights laughing together. Dorm life consisted of: chatting on our beds, Cortney and I always coming home late together and being forced to chat in the bathroom, "what if we were pioneers?", and our long lists of all the funny things we said--obviously heathers was the longest. This year has been amazing too. I was so nervous to live with girls that I wasnt already friends with, but it has turned out so great. I love Annie and Christina and we have definitely become life long friends who I will miss so much once they leave.

My life would suck without Jessica.

WOW. Jessica has been such a blessing in my life this year. I dont make friends with girls easily, but becoming friends with Jess last summer was easy and we became best friends so fast! Lots of things have been changing lately and Jessica has always been there for me. She gives the best advice! and always tells me what i need to hear.

My life would suck without Roach

Roach is my only friend from high school that I actually keep in contact with. We might not stay in touch on a regular basis but whenever he calls me its like nothing has ever changed. I think its awesome that its been four years and yet he still calls to see how his "favorite white girl" is doing. He is such a great guy, gives great advice and always wants to know what is going on in my life. And my favorite part of talking to him on the phone is he always tell me that he loves me.

My life would suck without my Lanaian friends.

i LOVE lanai and the people that live here. I have such an amazing group of friends who i love hanging out with. We always have something exciting going on--trips to midway, vegas and the SLC, dancing!, dinner every weekend, rock band, Idol, Baskin Robbins.....Its always a party with us and i love it!

I have got a great life and its because of the great people in my life. My life would totally suck without all of these people.

end of a legacy

I stole this bottle of vaseline from my parents probably around high school because I got addicted to putting putting vaseline on every night before I went to bed. I was under the impression that my parents bought this bottle while they were first married. WRONG. My father informed me a few years back that he stole it from his parents house, meaning that my grandparents bought it. In what year you ask? who knows. But bottom line is, its old. I use it everyday multiple times throughout the day, and about two weeks I finally used every single bit of it and there is absolutely none left. It's probably like 50 years old, and now its all gone. I love this bottle because it was something of my grandparents, ones that I never met. I am very sad that the legacy of my vintage vaseline bottle is over, but ill keep using it for some other purpose--cause you know, I cant get rid of it--that would mean change, and ending a tradtion, and we all know I cant handle that.

Happy Birthday Chasers!

Now today is my nephew Chase's GOLDEN birthday, and since i LOVE golden birthdays i had to give chasers a shout out. Too bad he wont ever be able to remember his amazing golden birthday and have a shin dig like i did. I cant believe baby chase is two. I dont really remember the exact moment finding out that Laura had the baby, as i recall she was in the hospital like all day, so it was just kind of a waiting game until we got the final news. I do remember though flying back home about 3 weeks after he was born with Kelly and drew to surprise Laura and mom. That was the best! I will never forget Laura's shocked face when she saw us standing at the door. Im pretty sure Laura didnt even recognize us she was in such shock. (and surprising mom was even better!) I loved being home that summer after chase was born because i hardly ever worked (maybe like 12 hours for the week) and so instead i would drive over to Laura's apartment to hang out with her and chase and watch desperate housewives. Chase and I instantly became BFF and i was his favorite person, and still am. I love hanging out with him, he is the cutest and funniest kid.

Happy Birthday Ella Bella!

My beautiful niece Ella turns FIVE years old today. I cant believe how big she has gotten. Being the only niece/ granddaughter (for now at least) she has become quite the family princess. I remember finding out when she was born--I was a junior in high school and in an assembly and my mom called me, I waited to walk out of the little theater to listen to her message when she told me Kelly had a baby girl and I started to cry during lunch I was so happy. I love my Ella Bella so much and cant wait to see her this weekend to celebrate her birthday with her.

Party at Bardi's

VIVA LAS VEGAS. There is no better quick getaway for some BYU kids then Vegas. A city full of things we dont do. Nonetheless, we had a great time! I had such a great time with great friends. Fortunately I didnt have to drive, and we ended up leaving P-Town at around 3. The drive down wasnt too bad and we arrived at the Lombardo's at about 8ish. And then we drove to the strip and partied it up. We walked through hotels and watched the fire show outside the Mirage. As stated previously there isnt much to do for us in Vegas, but there is something about the strip at night that i absolutely LOVE. It is exciting, thrilling and bright! I loved walking through all of the hotels and admiring the amazing design. And the temp was cold but obviously better then being in Provo.

Saturday was such a great day! Sleeping in and bagels from Einsteins started the day off great. Then we went to a place called Rock Canyon Park that was amazing! Probably one of the best parts of the trip. When I first heard about this place, Taylor told me we were "rock climbing".....WHAT? I dont rock climb or do outdoorsy activities so i of course was really hesitant. Then I heard that it was more of a nature walk. Rock climbing and nature walk are two totally different things so I was super confused of what the plan of action was going to be. We drive out to the mountains, and there is a strip of red rocks that looks more like St. George that are in front of the mountains. We go to this canyon and technically we did climb the rocks, but not in the format of when you first hear of "rock climbing." There is just a bunch of boulders that you can walk, climb up on and go exploring. It was absolutely beautiful! And the temperature was at a great 50 degrees so it was perfect to be climbing up on some mountains. It was such a great activity--something we cant do in Provo, and it gets us out of the house and not just walking on the strip that everyone does when you go to Vegas. And a actually the best part of the whole thing is that it provided for some GREAT photo opps, which we all love.

Next on the agenda was shopping. We went to like 3 malls and walked around--of course this immediately drained my energy as I hate shopping. But I did buy a great sweater and cute gold earrings from H&M (I cant resist big gold earrings). Then off to In-N-Out for a fab v day dinner. Cheeseburger no onions and animal style fries. Yum. Back to the strip for gambling and strip clubs....ahh...JK. We hit up the Bellagio for the water show--we watched it about 10 times. We couldnt get enough. I felt oddly like I just robbed a hotel and I was the star of Ocean's 14 or something. Then back to the same old same old--walking through hotels and taking lots of pictures of ourselves. Sometimes I feel like we do fun things just so we can take photos and then post them on facebook.

Our car ride was super fun full of crossword puzzles, would you rathers and me driving stick and stalling three times when I pulled into Provo, which was super humorous, especially Bardi who laughed the entire time.

But we did have a fantastic time. I LOVE my friends, we had such a great time. Im so grateful for my fabulous life and all of the fun adventures I get to go on (thanks mom and dad!) as I live up my senior year and my SINGLE LIFE!
