its a suite thing...

On Wednesday I got a very funny message from my good friend and old roomie Lindsay Barraclough Owen. Telling me that they had an sweet tickets to this suite thing for the Salt Lake Bees game. As I cant catch a Dodgers game I might as well watch some other form of baseball. Now I have only been to two Bees games, both of which I have been lucky enough to sit in the suites. I dont think I will be able to go to another game and sit in normal seats after these experiences. The best part are getting incredible FREE hot dogs. And lots of other good treats for free. It was a good game, its funny to watch minor league play cause they definitely make so many rookie mistakes that you would never see in the majors. Another great thing about the suite thing was that it rained! But we were protected. It was a way fun game, Lindsay had me cracking up the entire time and i loved it!

Salt Lake Day Trip

For years Taylor and I have talked about going to Salt Lake for a day trip. I dont really remember when we came up with this idea but it is something that we have always talked about but never actually did. The main problem was that we wanted to go up on a day with good weather. Well since Taylor and I usually only stay in Utah for the fall/ winter semester this gives us just a handful of days of good weather, either at the beginning of fall or end of winter. Now that we are up for the Spring we decided that we finally needed to have our day trip. This trip mostly consisted of wanting to walk around Utah's campus. We frequently talked about bringing up backpacks to try and pass for U students and perhaps even studying in the library. Last friday deemed the perfect opportunity as I needed to drive up to Kaysville for my cousin's wedding and since Taylor would already be up there for work. It was definitely weird walking around Utah's campus. It was bizarre to be on a campus that we were not familiar with and especially it being that of our arch rival. We encountered two problems on our exploration 1. it was brutally hot! We werent too up for exploring since we were both sweating. (One of my friends told me that he had a mission to drink for a drinking fountain in every BYU building, I can easily say that Taylor and I did that...only at the U) 2. We didnt really know much, so we walked around blindly. We determined that that U has poorly identified their buildings. BYU has great signs outside each of their buildings, the U however does not. Which made it difficult cause we didnt know where we were going. We decided that because of these two problems we will have to reschedule our day trip and redo it after we carefully studied up on what exactly we want to see.

Overall we werent that impressed with the U's campus. Im still a big fan of BYU. But it was strange and I couldnt help but think of Dad while I was walking around and going into the buildings, realizing that Dad actually went there and walked through these buildings. I guess I could think those same things about BYU with Mom, Laura and Kelly but for some reason it was just different being at Utah. It was also way weird walking into their bookstore, way too much red in there for my liking.

We are definitely gonna have to go back. And stop at The Pie next time since Im pretty sure that was a part of our original plans anyways. But I was so happy that my best friend and I could finally accomplish our much talked about and anticipated activity.

i miss these girls....

A LOT. Annie and Christina have been Sister Judd and Hermana Chatfield for a few weeks now and i miss them terribly. This year I was so scared about getting random roommates and yet it was probably one of the best years yet. We got along so great and had so much fun together. We may not have hung out on the weekends with each other, but we were always able to come home and laugh and chat together for hours. I swear we became best friends so fast and so easily. I think the hardest thing about having them gone is that we were only able to be friends for year. I wish they could have been a part of my life for so much longer. Christina was so absolutely crazy and i loved it. Annie was the nicest person I have ever met, and it drove Christina crazy haha. I miss waking up in the morning and seeing Annie sleeping in her bed since she refused to close her door at nights) or waking up and finding her on the couch cause she thought it was more comfortable then her bed. I miss Christina climbing into my bed in the middle of the night to talk about boys and I was always so delirious that my first instinct was to cuddle with her. I miss Christina eating dinner and having food get all over her face and her excuse was that she couldnt feel it so she wouldnt clean it up. I miss us dancing and singing at the top of our lungs whether it be to "Be Happy" by Aqua, or "My Life Would Suck Without You" or the Mama Mia soundtrack. I miss Annie walking into the apartment saying "Hi Bud!" I miss us all sleeping in the same bed (even though that only happened once, I wish we would have done it all the time!!!) i miss my best friends.

walking in the spiderwebs

Monday night i went to the NO DOUBT concert! Taylor is currently the summer intern for Utah's best radio station 97.1 ZHT and they hooked him up with four tickets for the show. He was nice enough to take me, Nick Lombardo and Amy Wiseman. Nick and I were not smart enough to leave P town early enough and missed out on getting to meet the band, unlike Taylor and Amy (Bust!...in the words of Amy). We arrived went to our seats and learned that Taylor and Amy snuck down to the floor. Taylor told us to sneak down too but i was so nervous! Especially since every entrance to the floor was blocked by a security guard, except for one! So we just walked right on down. In between the opening act of Paramore we were able to get up pretty close to the stage, and close to where DArch was sitting! (AKA David Archuleta) He looked pretty dang awkward singing to Paramore, but nonetheless adorable. No Doubt was AMAZING!!! I was afraid I wouldnt know many of their songs but i knew like every one. Gwen is freaking crazy and i love her. She is so hot. They played all of their greatest songs, opening with "Spiderwebs" "Just a girl" "Hey Baby" "Sixteen" "Dont Speak" "Bathwater" and many more. It was such a fun night!! Especially when they came out for their encore. We all went a little crazy during "Sunday Morning" and i loved it.

The night got better with a little midnight run to The Pie in SLC (love that place). Great music and great friends. Thanks TAY!!!

our new addition

on may 20th we welcomed a new addition into our family. my sister kelly gave birth to a beautiful baby girl kate larson. kelly had called me earlier in the day and told me that she probably wasnt going to have that baby this week so i didnt have to worry about coming up this weekend to help. about an hour later she called me back. i answered the phone with sarcasm "what are you in labor or something?" and then heard kellys panicky voice saying to hurry and pack my bags and get up to ogden as fast as i could. I packed and was on the road in about 10 mins and got to ogden very quickly. I was able to watch over the kids the next couple of days as kelly and kate were at the hospital and when they got home and rested. It was kinda tiring being a pseudo mom for a few days, but it was great to spend time with them all and be as helpful as i could be.
Meeting Kate for the first time

such a good big sister!!

as part of watching over the kiddies i took ella and drewbie to the dinosaur park on friday. it was a fun little adventure that got the kids of the house as we waited for the babe and mom to get home from the hospital. it was kinda funny taking the kids around cause i bet everyone thought i was there mom! ha. i felt like a good pseudo mom as i packed them snacks and drove to the park. we walked around read all of the signs, played in the park and of course took a lot of photos. as soon as i pulled out my camera ella wanted to take photos, which she isnt bad at. but then drew wanted to take photos, which is just not his forte yet.

drewbies turn... surprisingly not that bad

i had a great time in ogden and already love kate so much. it is so crazy to me that kelly has four kids now! im so excited for my new niece to be in our family and that now i can tell people i have nieceS and nephews. now i cant wait for baby mia to come and join us!!

some feng shui.

With the end of the winter semester Whitney moved out of my apartment for good as she is about to married in a few months. A few months back I was thinking about this and I came to the realization that when she moved out she would also be taking ALL of our decorations that have adorned our apartment since we moved in about three years ago. I was so bummed that we were going to lose everything and that our once cute apartment was going to look so bare and lame. Our front room lost-- one chair, a lovesac, our TV, picture frames and posters, a large three piece set from pottery barn that had a mirror and hooks for keys, and a small armoir. The apartment looked so boring with all of this gone. (But then I realized that all of that stuff I didnt really like, so I am actually glad that it is all gone.) When my new roomie Allie moved in she brought in a few things--such as a piano, a large picture and a mirror. With these new additions we decided that our apartment needed some feng shui.

Here is the apartment looking boring.

After out feng shui-ing and rearranging the furniture our apartment now looks like this: It was so fun and the apartment looks so much better and bigger!! I wish we would have rearranged things like years ago because the place looks so good. Annie and I also went on a spontaneous run to Pier One where she spent a gift certificate to purchase the long bamboo and basket that is in the corner. She told me that I can keep it for the next year and a half and then Ill give it back to her once she gets home from her mission. It was so fun and now I am even more sad to be leaving Lanai and my apartment in just a few short weeks.

life lately

I have been a little MIA from my blog, but here is a little update from my life...
Hiking the Y. Throughout my college career I had only hiked the Y once, as a freshman, and it was at like 11 o'clock at night and I had never done it since. Whitney and I then decided to hike it during the last week of our senior year, we went with Cortney and then hit up Magleby's Fresh (as this is a tradition for me and whit to go get breakfast during finals). It was so fun to go with my two BFFs from freshman year and sit on the top of the Y and reminisce on all of our great times we have had at BYU. So after hiking it for the first since freshman year, the next day I hiked it again with Annie and our friend James. Pretty funny that I had only done it twice in my life and then did it two times in a row. As we hiked up Annie and I decided that we want to hike it twice a week before Annie leaves to go on her mission. So far we have succeeded in making our goal. Its really fun to spend time with Annie before she leaves and to sit up on the mountain and overlook Provo.

Home and the Wood Wedding. Last week I went home for a short trip to see the fam and to go to my best friend Jennalyns wedding. Jennalyn and I have been best friends for a decade! She moved into the GH ward when we were 11 and we instantly became best friends. The past few summers have been amazing spending all of my time with her, she is so great, funny, BLONDE and pretty much the greatest person. We have done so much together throughout the years and I know that I can always count on her and we will be best friends forever. When she got engaged it was pretty hard on me, i cried, a lot. I knew that with her getting married it would definitely change a lot of things. With that being said, I am totally happy for her! Kevin is such a great guy (someone I have also kinda known since high school). He is so fun and perfect for Jennalyn. The wedding was amazing. Jennalyn looked GORGEOUS!!! Everything was perfect and looked so good. Another great part about the wedding was being with the GH kids, pretty much everyone was together and it was so fun to be with them for the first kid of the group to get married. My favorite part was line dancing with the GH girls just like the old days at stake dances. And nothing could be better then dedicating "Wannabe" by the Spice Girls to Jennalyn from the Blonde Burgade and seeing her pick up the bottom of her dress and run over to sing and dance with us and sing "If you wannabe be my lover you gotta get with my friends" to K. Wood. The wedding was great, I love Mr and Mrs Wood!

The Blonde Burgade.

And here are some photos of my and Jennalyn and the Blonde Burgade through the years. I love these girls more then life itself and we will be bestest friends forever.

Being home was great too. I love spending time with Chasers. And I guess everyone else too.

Substitute Teaching. A couple of days out of the week I am known as Ms. Robins to either elementary, middle or high school students. Thus far I have mainly worked as a sub to elementary and high school. Last week I was a sub for a fourth grade class for two days in a row. It was at a gifted program school so the kids were really smart and self motivated. I loved teaching them, it was so fun and it kinda made me want to be an elementary school teacher. The second day of teaching I couldnt find the lesson plan so I had to improvise which actually turned out pretty good. We played Heads Up 7 Up and they loved it. They loved me. And Ive also mostly been at P Town High which is good to get experience in a high school classroom. I love every minute of it, and I can tell with each day that I sub I get a little more confident in the school so I know that I am definitely going down the right career path.
